Frequently asked questions
How do I compare two images and find the differences?
Add the original image as Before and the changed one as After, by dropping, choosing or pasting them. The Difference view marks every pixel that changed and draws a box around each changed area. Use Swipe or Fade to see how the two versions line up.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The images are read and compared in your browser with the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to Ybug or anyone else, and nothing is saved when you close the tab.
What does color tolerance do?
It sets how different two pixels must look before they count as changed. At 0%, any change counts, including JPEG compression noise. The default of 10% ignores differences the eye can’t tell apart, such as slightly different font smoothing.
Can I compare images of different sizes?
Yes. Both images are lined up at their top-left corner, and the area only one image covers counts as changed. For a clean result, take both screenshots at the same window size and zoom level.
Can I compare a design mockup with the live website?
Yes. Export the mockup at the same width as the browser window, then take a screenshot of the built page at that width. On a high-density display, screenshots come out at 2× or 3× the CSS size, so export the mockup at the same scale.
Found what changed?
Report it from the page itself. With Ybug, your team annotates a screenshot and sends it with the URL and browser details.
