Connect your AI assistant
Every client needs the same server URL:
https://mcp.ybug.io/mcpThe server uses the Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth sign-in. There's no API key to paste: after you add the server, the client opens a browser window where you sign in to Ybug and approve access.
Before you start
You need a Ybug account on the BASIC plan or higher. Triage actions (changing status, priority, type, assignee and tags, adding comments) need STARTUP or higher. See Permissions, plans and data.
Client menus change often. If a step doesn't match what you see, look for "connectors", "integrations" or "MCP servers" in your client's settings and add a remote server with the URL above.
Pick your client
| Client | Setup |
|---|---|
| Claude (web and desktop) | Add a custom connector |
| ChatGPT | Create a developer-mode app |
| Codex | Add it with codex mcp add |
| Claude Code | Add it with claude mcp add |
| Cursor | Add it to mcp.json |
| VS Code | Add it to mcp.json |
| Anything else | Requirements for other clients |
Approving access
When the client opens your browser:

- Sign in to Ybug if you aren't signed in already. Single Sign-On works too.
- Pick a team under Grant access to if you belong to more than one. The team you last worked in on the dashboard is preselected, so check it. The assistant can only see that team's projects. See Working with more than one team.
- Check the permissions the assistant asked for:
- Read feedback and bug reports
- Make changes to feedback and bug reports
- Click Authorize.
The browser sends you back to your assistant, and the Ybug tools are ready to use. The connection now shows up under Connected apps in your account settings.
Working with more than one team
Each connection covers one team. There are two ways to use another one.
Switch teams. Disconnect the assistant under Connected apps, then sign in again from your client. Claude Code, for example, has Clear authentication under /mcp. On the consent screen, pick the other team. The assistant now sees only the new team.
Keep both teams connected. Some clients let you add the same server twice under different names, for example ybug-acme and ybug-internal, and sign in to each separately. Clients don't all keep those sign-ins apart, so after connecting the second one, ask each to list its projects and check you get the right team. Connected apps lists each connection with its team.
Check that it works
Ask your assistant:
List my Ybug projects.
If you get your project names back, you're connected. If not, see Troubleshooting.
